Successivamente l’acquisizione è stata annunciata ufficialmente alla stampa nelle vesti di una partnership strategica.

Steemit Inc. è il maggiore social blogging network Blockchain-based, una combinazione decentralizzata di Facebook e Reddit sviluppata nel 2016. Steem, la blockchain su cui si basa, è caratterizzata da un protocollo DPoS (Delegated proof-of-stake) gestito da un limitato numero di "Witnesess" (l'equivalente dei Miners della Proof-of-work), che vengono eletti dagli STEEM Holders per validare le transazioni del network.
